Donal Casey says: "I originally did this pen and ink illustration for a Spanish SF magazine that went bust before publishing any of my work! One thing I liked about the story was the way in which we are given hints of how despite the the rather surrealistic/fairy tale atmosphere of the tale it is still solidly rooted in speculative fact. So, I did the anthropomorphic animal characters in a style that was a realistic as I could."
